The Strangers I Meet - Everyday People

After that hike last August, life has gone back to some semblance of a routine. I can't say that it's totally the same, but, it's not necessarily a bad thing. There's the usual me habitually wandering into places, but now it's gotten a different.

Apart from the usual food photography, the portraits of the Starbucks baristas I made friends with, our utterly adorable dog, and the random knickknacks in between, I may have acquired some fixation to take pictures of people I find interesting, if not fascinating...

Since that hike, I've met quite a few... And all of them, in their own right, interesting and amazing. One may notice the gap in my last post... I've actually been taking portraits. This one goes out to them, the kind and amazing people who have generously shared their time, smile, portraits, and stories...

Stephanie

Of all the things I've done, talking to strangers on a social context had to be the most terrifying & overwhelming thing there is. The dread is multiplied when it's a beautiful woman. After a long time I've somehow managed to muster the guts to talk to this #cute #barista - her name is Stephanie, and she changes her #haircolor depending on her mood. She's also kind enough to pose and smile for me. I didn't bother her too long since she's busy at work, but I think it's a bit of a breakthrough to somehow be able to break the ice with a complete #stranger - and a cute one at that. . . . #lostwanderingdrifter #thestrangersimeet #ishootfilm #istillshootfilm #filmisnotdead #filmisalive #35mmfilmcamera #ibelieveinfilm #35mmphotography #analog #analogphotography #filmforever #film4ever #grainisgood #lensculture #wearefilmfolk #sunny16lab #belomo #vilia #baristas #portrait #portraitphotography #filmportrait

Joseph

#thestrangersimeet - One #Fridaynight, strolled into a coffee shop and found this in the middle of the crowd. He’s so engrossed at what he does that he hardly noticed me. I enjoyed the soothing tunes he was playing better than what the establishment played in the speakers. In between his breaks I managed to chat him up. His name is Joseph of the Silangan #Guitar Chamber Ensemble. He routinely practices here in preparation for their November 3rd performance in BGC. He chose the place because it’s cheaper than the studio and it helps him practice tuning out distractions. Despite playing the guitar for the past 15 years, he’s still nervous for the performance. . Inna

#thestrangersimeet - In Her Element. I managed to capture this barista preparing for the busy day ahead. It’s a cool moment of her looking all zen so I was hoping she’d let me post it. I managed to summon the guts to talk to her and ask her, she was friendly enough to let me. This is Inna - her name has a cool spelling and it’s the first time I’ve seen it spelled that way. It’s clever because it avoids it being mispronounced as “ina” or mom in Filipino. On IG she’s @xxinori - she makes some flawless #icedmocha that I enjoy when I’m there. I’m beginning to know folks at #satchmistore and it’s so cool that everyone there is friendly. . . . #rnifilms #rnifilmsph #lostwanderingdrifter #monochrome #blacknwhite #blackandwhite #blackandwhitephotography #iphonephotography #ilford #ilfordhp5 #barista #portrait

This is just a sort of a compilation. Most of the activity is in Instagram, so I encourage everyone to look for them there under the hashtag #thestrangersimeet

It doesn't end with just the pictures; these are only a frozen moment in time. For that frozen immortalized moment, there  be stories told. There are a lot of kind and interesting people around us, and I intend to meet them- one stranger at a time. There will be more people whom I want to meet.

Follow me Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Flickr, and Instagram. Yes, I'm kind of all over the place. Don't hesitate to share your thoughts on the comments as well. Until then, don't be afraid to get lost and wander.
